Three new things I learned
- That Paul Black and Dylan Williams found that students taught by teachers who used assessment in the classroom learned faster, six to seven months compared to a year.
- Five broad strategies and the different suggestions under each of the in-depth categories: i.e. Engineer Effective Classroom Discussion-use of dry erase boards.
- The hinge question-the question asked midway through the unit or lesson to gauge where the students are.
Two Things I could use in the classroom
- I would use the different techniques applied in Engineer Effective Classroom Discussion to gauge my students and to also involve all of my students.
- Implore the Provide Feedback That Moves Learners Forward by giving feedback but no grades.
One thing I would like to learn more about
- The feedback instead of grades idea. At the end of that section it states that the teacher had to have permission to do that, but I did not understand why.
