Chapter 11

What three new things have I learned?
  1. What is and how the use of a virtual manipulative would be beneficial to teachers trying to have their students problems solve or help visualize what they are working on.
  2. The results of the Praxis II test: “that elementary education candidates have much lower math and verbal scores than other college graduates do.” (pg. 328)
  3. What the four integration strategies for science are: supporting authentic science experiences, supporting scientific inquiry skills, supporting sciecn concept learning, accessing science information and tools.
Two things I would integrate into my classroom...
  1. If I was a math teacher I feel that the use of virtual manipulatives would be great for my students since most students are visual and kinetic learners anymore.
  2. The use computer software and calculators.
One thing I would like to learn more on...
  • I would like to learn more about the Praxis exam results to compare and contrast various data.
