Chapter 7

What three new things did I learn?
I learned the difference between the internet and the world wide web. I was one of those people who thought the world wide web was the internet and visa versa. I am still somewhat hazy, but I believe I get that the internet is the foundation of the world wide web and that the world wide web is the structure. I don't know if that is the greatest metaphor, but that is how I see it.
I also learned the top five errors in URLs...I have done each one of the errors listed on page 212. It is useful to know the top five errors if one of my student's misspells a word or forgets an underscore, I can now point them out.
And last but not least I learned that content and design of the website is also important in evaluating it for information. The student may have a hard time navigating the design and the content of the website may not have been updated since 1998. Something to aware of when student's are researching information.

What two things could I implement in my classroom.
The first thing is the world wide web to research information and also to use the classroom blog. The blog for this class would be my third blog these past years. I find them rather frustrating, but also knowing that the future generation, I will be educating, is social. I feel that having a classroom blog that students can write thoughts and feelings of the week's lessons and or share other information pertaining to classroom lessons.

What is one thing I could learn more about?
I would like to learn how to use chat-rooms, Instant messaging, and videoconferencing in an highschool English classroom.
